Pendelfins were first produced in 1953 in a garden shed in Burnley by freelance artists Jean Walmsley Heap and Jeanie Todd who had initially been colleagues at Burnley Building Society. (The name Pendelfins was used because the shed where the little Elfin creatures were first made was overlooked by Pendle Hill.)

A magical range of hand painted rabbit sculptures, stonecraft by Pendelfin. Labels to the base of each rabbit are very difficult to exactly date, as in the mid 1980s there was a fire that destroyed the records in which the most accurate information was held.
What happened to PenDelfin?
On the 11th June, 1986, disaster struck as a devastating fire destroyed most of the PenDelfin works. Almost miraculously, and thanks to amazing efforts by all the staff, lead by Arthur Morley, production was underway again in less than a week.
